Persevere

CONDITIONS:

80 degrees, high humidity negated by a 5 kts W breeze when the shovel flag is planted. There was stretching and great mumblechatter until 0515hrs. At that point, the flag fell limp.

 

PAX:

Bartman, Shingles, Spiccoli, Chumbucket, Squid-QIC

WARM UP:

25 SSH

20 fwd/20 rev Arm Circles

15 TTT

15 Imperial Walkers

Mosey the loop around the park, dodging the carnie contraptions.

THE THANG:

PAX form a rank, shoulder to shoulder and begin the called exercise. One by one, PAX mount the pull-up bar for max reps as everyone else continues the called exercise (non stop). Once everyone has done max rep pull-ups, PAX a “break” then return. Here’s how it played out:

All PAX do Leg Lifts as one individual does 10 Flutters. Once all have completed 10 Flutters, WE’RE DONE!

Most often, when YHC has the Q, the excitement brought on by the planning and anticipation make it hard to sleep. Admittedly, that was not the case today. Politics, relationships, school start up, work, yadayadayada…YHC was distracted and considered seeking out a substitute. I’m glad that I didn’t. This morning, YHC did work in the gloom alongside 4 men (brothers, AYE!) and all the other ‘head junk’ just went away. Call it Q’drenaline, endorphins or avoidance but, for 45 solid minutes, I thought about nothing else but how to help other people get better (there was a stray thought about intentional breathing, get near the grass in case you pass out, etc). I am thankful for our group everyday. If you’re a dude who reads the Facebook shenanigans and backblasts but you never post, STOP CHEATING YOURSELF! You’re missing out because you won’t turn off the alarm and stand up. If you post but have avoided taking the Q, you’ve yet to discover how great this is. Who goes to an amazing steakhouse and just has water and a roll and calls it good? As men, we are fortunate to have found this; plug in and maximize it. It IS more than a workout  #ISI #SYITG
