18 PAX including YHC/Q showed up in the Gloom for DDay Salute!  It was humid, surprise face, with a slight threat of rain, but it held off.  We used the man-made terrain feature conveniently at our disposal regardless.  It provides an added bonus of feeling like an oven when it is particularly humid out.

The morning started with a lot of chatter in the normal gaggle of Men, wondering who was Q’n.  Then they heard the yell of circle up, insert eye rolls, and figured it out quickly.  75 years ago the Allied forces stormed the beaches and took to the skies.  We read General Eisenhower’s letter to the troops before the invasion and talked about the sacrifices made of so many young Men, the support on the home front and the American pride and spirit of the day.

SUPREME HEADQUARTERS
ALLIED EXPEDITIONARY FORCE

Soldiers, Sailors, and Airmen of the Allied Expeditionary Force!

You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you. In company with our brave Allies and brothers-in-arms on other Fronts, you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world.

Your task will not be an easy one. Your enemy is will trained, well equipped and battle-hardened. He will fight savagely.

But this is the year 1944! Much has happened since the Nazi triumphs of 1940-41. The United Nations have inflicted upon the Germans great defeats, in open battle, man-to-man. Our air offensive has seriously reduced their strength in the air and their capacity to wage war on the ground. Our Home Fronts have given us an overwhelming superiority in weapons and munitions of war, and placed at our disposal great reserves of trained fighting men. The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together to Victory!

I have full confidence in your courage, devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory!

Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.

Here’s the Thang:

75 Burpees – 10 per minute for 60 then 15 on the last set

Tunnel of Love about mid-way through the field then we picked up and Mosey’d to the Deck.

At the Bottom we did 75 Swimmers, Ran up the Short Ramp, then moved our Partner up the Long Ramp with a Buddy Drag.  Same on the next Short and Long until we were at the Stairs on the next level.

75 Ray Lewis IC then repeat the above but with a Buddy Carry or Fireman’s Carry until we hit the Stair door at the next level.

75 Merkins SC then repeat with a Buddy Drag to the top level.

75 Squats SC and take the stairs down.

We mosey’d to the SF and did a round of Captain Thor.
